The Riyad Bank Contactless Credit Card has a chip and a radio frequency antenna embedded. When the Contactless Credit Card is tapped against a terminal enabled for contactless payments, the card transmits payment details wirelessly, eliminating the need to insert the card. Account details are communicated to the reader and then processed through the secure Visa or MasterCard® acceptance network in the same way as had you inserted the card.
The Riyad Bank Contactless Credit Card uses secure encryption technology (the same as CHIP and PIN) so you can confidently use it. Besides, it never has to leave your hand when a payment is made, you will always be in control – giving you added security to the card.
Anywhere with a Contactless payment PoS Machine, the card can be used to tap and pay. If a contactless PoS machine is not available, the Contactless card can still be used for swipe or dip transactions.
A retailer with a PoS machine showing a contactless symbol displayed on it, is enabled for contactless payments.
You need to be at least 4cm away from a PoS terminal to waive for a purchase otherwise you can also directly ‘tap’ on the terminal screen.
Purchases made in contactless mode will be displayed in the statement just like any other purchase made with a regular card.
You will hear a beep/see a light and receive a slip from the merchant, as well as receive an SMS and e-mail on your registered contact details once the transaction is successful.
You can use your Riyad Bank Contactless Credit Card to pay for items up to the value of SAR 100. For purchases over SAR 100 you will need to enter your PIN.
Your maximum spend per transaction is SAR 100. Your Riyad Bank Contactless Credit Card is capped at SAR 300 - which limits any possible loss. Once this limit is reached, you will be asked to enter your PIN and the count is reset to zero till you reach the cap of SAR 300 again.
Not at all. Should the card be tapped more than once at the terminal, you will only get billed once for the purchase.
The contactless technology works only when the card is waved at a maximum range of 4cm.
Should you be within proximity of a contactless terminal, no accidental transaction can take place as the cashier must first enter the amount on the PoS machine before the card is waived or tapped and payment is processed.
Contactless only works when a card is close to the card reader. This makes it extremely difficult for any details to be intercepted while in use. Also, each card reader contains security technology based on industry-wide standards.
Yes it is. Contactless uses the latest secure encryption technology (same as Chip and PIN) so you can feel confident when using it to pay for items.
No, you cannot ‘Tap’ or ‘Waive’ to get cash out of an ATM using your contactless credit card. You will have to insert your Riyad Bank Contactless Credit Card into an ATM and enter your PIN as you normally do.
You should call 8001242225 to report your card lost or stolen or visit the nearest Riyad Bank Branch to have the card blocked.
